13 Toddler‑Friendly Cafés in Porto (Tried and Tested by a Local Mom)

Finding truly toddler-friendly cafés in Porto can be surprisingly tricky. Many guides list “kid-friendly spots,” but that usually just means they’ve seen a high chair and some kids at a table —not the kind of setup that keeps a two- or three-year-old safe, happy, and busy long enough for you to enjoy your coffee.

After many outings (and a few chaotic ones) with my own little ones, I’ve learned which places actually make life easier for parents of toddlers. Here are my top 10 cafés in Porto where you and your tiny companion can both relax and recharge.

PAO – Padaria Artesanal Orgânica (Foz Nevogilde)

PAO is where I go when I’m craving the kind of croissant I grew up with in France: perfectly flaky on the outside, soft and buttery inside. As a French person, I don’t say this lightly – they’re the best I’ve had in Porto so far.

They also make amazing brioche, proper bread, and toasties, and you can even pick up a few extras like good olive oil to take home. On certain days they bake focaccia (you’ll need to call ahead to check), and it’s honestly the best I’ve tried in town.

Because it’s inside Mercado do Foz, it’s a stress‑free spot with kids: they can safely wander around the market while you finish your coffee. There are toilets at the end of the market, although no changing table and no high chair.

🕙 Opening Hours: Monday 9am to 4.45pm, Tuesday to Friday 9am to 6.45am. Closed on Sundays.

Do Norte Café by Hungry Biker

Homely, family-friendly brunch spot with great food and quick service. It is worth booking ahead, as around 12:00 there can be a 15‑minute queue, especially on weekends.

There is an outdoor space and games for kids, plus a high chair, although there’s no buckle. There is no soup on the Menu (in case you need to feed your baby) and no changing table in the toilets, which is important to know with a baby.

We had a burger, toast, and savoury pancakes, all delicious! Drinks included a fresh orange juice, a smoothie and strong coffees. Next time the waffles and ginger latte are on the list, as the cosy interior and tempting menu make you want to return.

It’s a 5min walk from Livraria Lello and Wondersense Museum.

🕙 Opening Hours: Monday to Sunday 8.30am to 4pm.

Amelia Foz (Foz Nevogilde)

It’s a 2min walk from the beach, open all day, with a plant‑filled interior, great service, and a very family‑friendly setup with benches, high chairs and pens and paper. The terrace is protected, so kids can move around safely. The plates are on the smaller side, which is great if you don’t have a big appetite.

I had the wild rice with halloumi, which was so good, and at 10€ it felt like a bargain. My husband had the shakshouka and our toddler the kids’ menu (beef patty, rice and egg — it’s a big plate). I wouldn’t advise the toasts as they don’t seem to get good reviews.

🕙 Opening Hours: Monday to Sunday 9.30am to 7.30pm.

Camelia Brunch Garden (Foz Velha)

Beautiful decoration with a tree in the middle, high chairs, and a changing table, making it very family‑friendly. There’s a wide terrace overlooking the river mouth,  right by tram line 1 and bus line 500, but you need to watch little ones near the tracks.

There’s a good selection of vegan and vegetarian options and fresh juices. I had the spinach gnocchi with almonds and coconut cream, with a tirasmitsu and it was delicious. The labneh at around 7 euros felt like a great deal. There’s a  kids’ sandwich which is a small burger with fries. We’ll be back to try their falafels and tartines, which looked amazing!

🕙 Opening Hours: Monday to Friday 10am to 8pm, Saturday to Sunday 9am to 8pm.

LEA Food & Drinks (Massarelos)

Ok, so if there’s one place which is kid-friendly in the entire city, it’s this one. There’s a huge garden where kids can safely run around, plus a small kitchen play area with toys and pen and paper. You can also rent the garden for birthday parties.

The place is beautifully designed and ideal for brunch. The coffee is very good, there are vegan and vegetarian options, a soup of the day, a kids menu, and brunch dishes like pancakes, scones, and chocolate mousse with salted caramel.

You do not need to book before 11:30 a.m., but after that it is recommended, and laptops are not allowed on weekends or between 12:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on weekdays. The spot is also pet friendly, so you can bring your dog.

There is of course a changing table and high chairs 🥳.

🕙 Opening Hours: Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday 10am to 8pm, Friday and Saturday 10am to 10pm.

Cafe 55

Great address for brunch! We had soup, focaccia sandwiches, fresh juices, pastéis de nata, and coffees for 35 euros. This is very good value! There are only few tables inside and it’s a bit cramped, so make sure you bring games to keep your toddlers busy.

They have high chairs and toilets, although no changing table. Mind the stairs when going down, as it can be slippery because of the flour.

The overall experience was amazing and it’s surrounded by a big esplanade, where kids can safely play or cycle while you enjoy your coffee on the terrace, if the weather allows.

🕙 Opening Hours: Tuesday to Sunday 9.30am to 7.30pm, closed on Mondays.

Creperia La Bombarde (Foz Nevogilde)

Family-friendly affordable restaurant near the beach, offering gluten-free buckwheat galettes and crêpes to eat in or take away. The owner is very lovely, and her French husband brings an authentic touch to the menu. The food is simple but ok, with homemade jams, desserts, and quiche, plus cider that comes from France.

They open early, there is wide space between tables for a stroller, and there are toys and art on the walls to keep little ones entertained. Changing table and toddlers toilet seats in the bathroom. It is also very dog friendly, with water left outside for them in summer, as well as a couple of tables.

🕙 Opening Hours: Tuesday to Thursday 11.30am to 7.30pm, Friday to Saturday 11am to 7.30pm, Sunday 12pm to 7.30pm. Closed on Mondays.
