Baby Food in Porto: 10 Stores with the Widest Range of Baby Products.

1. Pingo Doce – Everyday Baby Essentials

When we need baby food quickly, Pingo Doce is usually the first stop. Most medium and large branches stock a decent baby aisle with jars, fruit purées, cereals, and snacks, plus nappies and wipes for emergencies. I like that I can also grab fresh fruit, veg, and yogurts in the same run, which makes it easy to top up both baby and toddler supplies before heading back out to explore.

2. Continente – Big Choice for Jars and Snacks

Continente hypermarkets and larger supermarkets tend to have one of the best selections of baby food, including different brands of jars, pouches, and toddler snacks. If I know we’ll be self‑catering for a few days, I like doing one bigger shop here so we have enough dinners, snacks, and backup meals in the apartment.

3. Auchan – Great for Stocking Up on a Road Trip

Whenever we’re on a road trip or staying outside the city centre, Auchan is another good place to stock up on baby food and kids’ yogurts. The baby section usually has jars, pouches, cereals, and sometimes organic options, which is handy if your child prefers certain flavours or textures.

4. Lidl – Budget‑Friendly Basics That Kids Actually Eat

Lidl is surprisingly reliable for simple baby and toddler food, especially fruit purée pouches, biscuits, and yogurts. I like popping in for budget‑friendly basics we know our kids will eat, then adding fresh fruit and veg from local markets to balance things out.

5. Celeiro – Organic and Allergy‑Friendly Options

For organic or more “natural” baby food, Celeiro is usually my first choice. You’ll often find organic baby cereals, pouches, biscuits, plant‑based milks, and allergy‑conscious snacks that are harder to spot in regular supermarkets. It’s the kind of place I visit when I’m looking for something gentler on sensitive tummies or just want to feel better about the ingredient list.

6. Quintal Bioshop / Other Organic Grocery Stores

Small organic grocers like Quintal Bioshop (and similar bio shops around Porto) are great for topping up on fresh produce and healthier snacks. They don’t always have a separate “baby” section, but between seasonal fruit, veg, grains, and unsweetened yogurts, it’s easy to put together simple meals for toddlers and babies who are already on solids.

7. Mercado do Bolhão – Fresh Fruit, Veg and Soups

When we’re near Bolhão, I like using the market as a baby‑food stop in a more traditional way. The stalls are full of fresh fruit and vegetables, and many eateries inside offer simple soups and plain dishes that work well for little ones. For older babies and toddlers, I’ll often order a basic vegetable soup and some bread, then add soft fruit from the market as dessert.

8. Mercado Municipal de Matosinhos – Market Produce for Simple Meals

If you’re staying closer to the coast, Matosinhos market is perfect for picking up fresh produce to cook simple baby‑friendly meals at home. Between the fruit, veg, and fish counters, you can easily make steamed vegetables, fish with potatoes, or basic purees, which is ideal if your baby is used to homemade food.

9. El Corte Inglés (Vila Nova de Gaia) – One‑Stop International Shop

El Corte Inglés has a large supermarket in the basement where you can find both Portuguese and international brands of baby food. This is where I go if I’m looking for something specific (like a brand we know from another country) or want to pick up baby food, snacks, and a few “treat” items for the adults in one go.

10. Local Padarias and Pastelarias – Yogurts and Simple Extras

While they don’t sell baby jars, many neighbourhood bakeries and cafés are useful for quick baby snacks: natural yogurts, plain bread, simple soups, and fruit. I often combine supermarket jars or pouches with a stop at a local café for a fresh soup and yogurt, which keeps everyone fed without needing a full restaurant meal every time
